After just playing the Washington Mystics the day before in D.C., the Connecticut Sun executed another well-balanced attack flying to a 101 to 89 victory over the visiting Indiana Fever. All five starters for the Sun scored in double figures. Overall the Sun shot 55.2% percent from the field including 13 of 24 (54.2% from the three-point line.
The Sun got off to a quick start against the Fever and led the entire game. Chiney Ogwumike scored a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Jonquel Jones also scored 21 points followed by Courtney Williams with 13 points, Shekinna Stricklen with 12 points, and Jasmine Thomas with 10 points.
For the Fever, Victoria Vivians had an exceptional night scoring 25 points including five out of eight from the three-point line.
After the game, Connecticut Sun Head Coach Curt Miller commented: “I’m proud of that locker room. It’s not easy to win on a back-to-back, away, home, first-place team, last-place team. That was our fourth game in six days in playing a back to back and the morning started for most of us with 4 a.m. wakeup call. So proud that we mustered up the energy to get the game up-tempo. Offensively we did a lot of good things. Still, a lot to work on. I just need to go to bed after that. We’re in a tough stretch and we’re learning how to play without AT (Allyssa Thomas) and we’re really happy to see the ball go in the basket for J.J. (Jonquel Jones) tonight.”
